Affiliate Marketing: What You Need to Know About Google Updates.

It could mean the difference between success and failure.

As you research to write a post on your blog or any copy for that matter, you want to find the keywords that will make you rank as high as possible in the search engines. But with Googles constant updates of their algorithms, you may find your site soaring high in the rankings one week and crashing to all-time lows the next.

Over the last decade these changes(updates) have accelerated and shows no signs of slowing down. For instance, in 2009 Google made 250-400 changes in their algorithms. By 2018 they made 3,234. Some of most of these changes were small, but a lot of them weren’t…and no telling how many are going to happen this year.

No matter how you look at it, you should care about Google updates to their algorithms because they could have a drastic change in your search engine rankings. First for those who don’t know…

What is Google Algorithms?

Google algorithms is a complex system used by Google to collect data from it’s search index that furnishes the best possible results for the user.

How Google does this is they use an algorithm called PageRank(PR). What PagRank does is they count the number and the quality of the links to a page to see an estimate of how important a website is. The theory to this is, the most important websites will likely get more links from other websites.

But today Google uses a number of algorithms. If fact, based on their patent filings of late,it is suspected that Google uses about 200+ other algorithms.

Bottom line, Google  algorithms determine how high you rank in the search engines and as you may know…the higher you rank, the more chances of success you have. That’s why when you do your keyword research it is so important that you understand how Google updates can affect your ability to generate traffic.

Why Does Google Constantly Update?

Googles main focus is to provide relevant information to it’s users…along with providing you a better experience when using it. They constantly update their algorithm to accomplish this. Some of these updates are new features, which is good for the user, but alot of the changes are focused on removing spam and other unethical practices that some unscrupulous content writers have been known to do. Such as cramming a bunch of good keywords in their content to try and rank higher in the search engines. You should incorporate good kewords in your content, but not at the cost of writing terrible copy that doesn’t make sense. Through Google updates they were able to determine who was doing this kind of thing and punish them for it.

3 Reasons You Should Keep Up on Google Updates.

1 They can affect your rankings. You can have a high ranking with tons of traffic today that can be completely wiped out tomorrow.

2 A drop in traffic translates to a drop in revenue.

3 Algorithm updates can be a good thing. You might find out, that if you align your site with Google goals , your traffic and rankings could shoot through the roof.

The Algorithm You’ll Most Likely Get Hit With.

Google has certain filters it uses to penalize websites. For instance, PANDA updates is a filter designed to penalize “thin” or poorly written content from ranking well…on the other hand, PENGUIN is a filter designed to penalize websites that have bad link building techniques.

If your site statistics show you have a sudden drop in traffic and ranking, you could be a victim of one of these updates.

The update you get hit by depends on what you’re doing on your site. Try to generate traffic the right way…don’t chest and try to do things the easy way…in the long run that kind of thinking never works.

But if you do think you’ve been penalized by one of Googles updates, it’ll more likely be Panda. Here are some of the things that’ll trigger Panda…

Lean Content: Try to provide explicit, specific answers to what your readers are looking for. Be specific in your writing, don’t generalize. For instance instead of saying something like a lot of money, say $3,500 dollars.

Poor-Quality Writing: content that is hard to read or even look at, won’t get ranked…period. This can include but not limited to grammer erros, poorly formatted text, distracting images that really doesn’t go wit the content and should be left out and designs that make the reader have to work too hard to find what they’re looking for.

Content That’s Untrustworthy or Unreliable: The two things that Google will absolutely not tolerate is…1 Trying to CON people. 2 Incompetence. You want to have integrity in any business you run. If longevity is what you want in your business, then you have to be honest. For one thing it’s wrong to try and con people but more importantly it’s against the law. When it comes to being competent , make sure you do the necessary research in order to make sure that your message is on point and true. You don’t want to get your readers in trouble by giving them facts that are wrong or not true.

Rewriting Text: This one’s a no-brainer. You should NEVER copy someones elses writing. Always be original. If you find an article that you’d like to write about, just read it a couple of times and write it in your own words.

Summary

Google has been known to update as much as 3,234 times in just one year. You’ll be smart to keep up with these updates(many times Google will announce when they’re going to make changes, but not before they’re ready to roll).

If you find a sudden drop in traffic and ranking, it could be caused by one of more of these updates.

Be smart and do things the right way. Don’t try and cheat the system… you’ll be glad in the long run and you might even benefit from the updates.

That’s it for now, until next-time all the success to you and stay safe.

I started this blog because I believe we're in an economic environment that is only going to reward those who have their own (business). My passion is to help as many as I can to be successful as an online entrepreneur. As you may know, you can't count on the government to secure your financial future, so you must rely on yourself on yourself. I came to this conclusion because I was a victim of this up and down economy and I'm pulling myself out of my misfortune by starting my own online business and I want to carry as many poeple like myself along by helping THEM succeed.
